2013 Revisited

Eight may be my favorite number, but the number one very well may be a respectable second.  As I have written in previous posts, New Year’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, as I welcome the fresh start and unlimited possibilities that it offers to the world.  The first day of the month feels like a mini New Year’s Day, as it is a time to reflect on the past and to decide what to do in the present to accomplish goals and fulfill resolutions in the future.

So, it is March 1, 2013; the second anniversary, so to speak, of the new year, and I find myself taking stock of the year so far.  In January, I was waylaid by illness and got off to a slower than desired start in doing my part to make this an amazing year, but I did not let this deter my quest and forged ahead.  In February, I began to put the pieces of my plan together to make my dreams become realities, and I was able to see some of the figurative seeds that I had planted in the month before begin to take root and grow.  So, what will March bring?

While I do not have the gift of seeing the future, I can use the gifts I do have to make today and the days to follow as incredible as possible.  I still have high hopes for 2013, and I still have the excitement and motivation that was present on New Year’s Day to carry me through the rest of the year.  I used to treat the new year as if it were a sprint, when it is actually a marathon.  I am committed to the vision I have for this year, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.  It may not always go according to plan, but sometimes, plans that go awry yield the sweetest surprises and the most unexpected blessings.

So, I have my marching orders for the next 31 days and beyond, and I hope that your new year has gone well and that you are making strides to reach your own goals and to make this a memorable year in countless ways.  Happy New Year, again!
