I went to bed last night feeling a bit out of sorts for a number of reasons, and unfortunately, I woke up feeling even more out of sorts for even more reasons. Some of these reasons were based on fact, while others were based on fear that I conjured up all on my own. Try as I might, I just couldn’t convince the negative thoughts and feelings to call a truce, so, the inner battle waged on until this evening, when I finally was able to do something positive for myself and my younger daughter to end the day on a better note than it began.
After dropping off my older daughter at a friend’s house for a sleep over, my younger daughter and I decided to have a “date night” together. We ate at one of our favorite local restaurants, Kayrouz Café, and savored the delicious meal and the delightful conversation. As we sat outside, I felt my mood begin to lighten with every giggle, story, and yummy bite of food. We stopped by my parents’ home for a brief visit before heading home for a quiet evening of pampering on a rainy Saturday.
With the help of scented lotions, mud masks, candles, and comfy robes and pajamas, our home became a spa, as we indulged in some pampering. I always enjoy one-on-one time with each of my daughters, and my younger daughter was the perfect “date” tonight. Spending time with her was just what I needed to get out of my head and get back into my heart, and she delighted in having my undivided attention and simply spending time together, with her directing tonight’s activities. We pampered more than our bodies, and we are both the better for it.
Just one thing each day . . .

What a great ‘date’ to have….. the very, very best….. time with your daughter one on one.

Thanks, Elizabeth:). I love doing things with both of my daughters, but that one-on-one time truly is precious. They seem to be growing before my eyes, and I am savoring every moment with them!
