One needn’t be a member of a 12-step group to find comfort in the words of the Serenity Prayer. It is a prayer that I have recited for years, and one that many people are familiar with, as well. That said, leave it to my special friend to put his unique spin on this well-known and much-loved prayer.
Irregardless of how many times I have heard and said The Serenity Prayer, I will never be able to hear it or say it again without my special friend’s words echoing in my ears, “God grant me the serenity to accept the shit I cannot change, or whatever it says.” Ah, serenity now, serenity now . . .
