What better way to kick off the week than being a good friend to someone dear to me and to myself, so, that is just what I did. I ended my day by treating myself to a massage, and as luck would have it, I was able to walk to and from my appointment on a ridiculously gorgeous afternoon. It was such a decadent treat, and I intend to indulge in both massages and walks on a regular basis. They also served as gentle reminders of the importance of being a good friend to myself so that I can be an even better friend to others. This evening, I was able to show some kindness and support to someone who needs it the most.
As I have learned over these past few years, you find out who your true friends are when the chips are down, and I am so fortunate to be able to say that I have some amazing true friends in my life. One of these friends is now facing a challenge of her own, in that her husband is preparing to begin treatment for cancer. We are separated by hundreds of miles, but she and her family are close in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. To bridge the distance, I sent them a care package filled with goodies from Kentucky, because there really is no place like home, especially when you are scared and hurting. I can’t be with them right now, but I hope that this care package is a tangible reminder that they are cared about and loved. I look forward to sending a celebratory care package when he beats cancer once and for all!
It was a mighty fine Monday, and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the week brings.
Just one thing each day . . .
