The third day of November is almost over, and the fact that I am just now writing this is evident of a busy, productive, and fun day. I am tired, and I am grateful. Here’s what I am giving thanks for today:
- I am grateful that I have the opportunity to work closely with three colleagues on a pilot project at work. It is nice to get to know these smart, hard-working, funny, and genuine people better, and I appreciate being able to navigate these new waters with them, especially when the waters get rough.
- As I walked to my neighborhood polling place, I felt a sense of civic pride, and I also felt gratitude for the right and privilege to cast my vote this morning. I am grateful for the women who led the fight for women to have the right to vote in this country, and I am glad to live in a democratic society. No matter which candidates win or lose, I know that I had a say in the process, and it feels good to have my voice heard.
- After a long day at work, I appreciated ending my day by attending a get together organized by some dear friends to eat, drink, and be merry and to extend some love and support to me. The conversation, laughter, and love were the best medicine indeed, and my sweet friend, Mike, even surprised me with lovely flowers. Thanks, boys!!!
- One of the things that I am most thankful for today and every day is being able to start and end the day with long conversations that run the gamut from serious to silly with someone who defies both labels and logic and who is simply “my person”. I will leave it at that, other to say, from the bottom of my big heart, thank you.
So, that’s that, and now, it’s time to get ready for day four.
Just one thing each day . . .
