This fifth day of November is drawing to a close, yet my appreciation for these people and things continues:
- My mailbox delivered more surprises in the form of a card from some of my favorite people in the world. I received encouragement and prayers from the St. John Center for Homeless Men staff, aka my “family”. Reading their words and seeing the familiar names of each person made me smile through tears, and I felt so loved and supported. The work that they do each day is truly sacred, and the finest gentlemen in all of Louisville are so fortunate to have them in their corner, as am I.
- There also was a package in today’s mail that brought me books from one of my college roommates. I love to read, so, Melissa’s kind gifts of spiritual books to minister to me during this latest turbulent chapter of my life are spot on in more ways than one. They are appreciated guides on this new path I now walk, and I am so grateful to have them, along with Melissa’s friendship.
- I am grateful for one more day of spring like weather in early November. I stood outside earlier this evening and felt the warm air surrounding me, as I gazed at the stars above me. For that moment, all was right in the world, and it felt like a true silent and holy night.
Just one thing each day . . .
