Gratitude Day 10

Support Quote

The theme for this tenth day of November definitely has been supportive family and friends, and I find myself utterly overwhelmed by love and gratitude for each and every one of them.  It is one thing to be there for someone during the best of times, but to show up and stay put for someone during the worst of times is something else altogether.  Today, as I took my first small step down this new path, I have more reasons to give thanks than I can possibly list, but here is a sampling:

  1. There are too many people to list individually, but collectively, I want to thank everyone who has called, texted, emailed, sent cards, and left messages on social media offering their support, healing thoughts, and prayers for my family and for me.  Those encouraging words always seem to find me when I need them the most, and they remind me that I am not alone.  I especially appreciate my loved ones who have caught a glimpse of my darker moments and not shied away.  I am sorry for those tough times, and I thank you for understanding and loving me no matter what.
  2. Today, I received such a truly lovely gift from a little girl I used to babysit who grew up to be a kind, compassionate, and beautiful woman.  Katie sent me a gorgeous head scarf from an awesome organization, Hope Scarves.  Along with the scarf was a story of hope and courage from a breast cancer survivor, and it was just the boost I needed.  The survivor’s club is definitely more my cup of tea, or shot of whiskey, as the case may be, so, sign me up!
  3. After having a less than positive experience with a medical professional when the breast cancer was detected, I am so very grateful for the fantastic care I received during my contrast MRI this evening.  He was professional, personable, and humorous, and the fact that he found the Pearl Jam station on Pandora and played it for me during the test was icing on the cake.  Rock on!

Thanks to everyone who made today a ten in my book!!!

Just one thing each day . . .
