Thank You for Your Service

Even though I definitely know what I am grateful for today, I find myself grappling with how to put that gratitude into words adequately. Perhaps, it is because it is impossible to thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice for our country. Never one to back down from a challenge, though, I hope to convey my gratitude for our veterans through these simple, but heartfelt, words on this eleventh day of the eleventh month.

Thank you for taking an oath to serve and protect our country and for backing those words with actions. While some of their actions are captured by the media and highlighted during times of war and times of crisis, their daily, more mundane actions are just as important and appreciated.

Thank you for leaving behind your family, friends, and the comforts of home to ensure that our families, friends, and homes are safe and sound.

Thank you for being willing to put your lives on the line, so, that we all may live our lives fully and freely.

Thank you for your bravery and courage and for serving with honor.

Thank you for your families who support you and who make countless sacrifices of their own for you and for our nation.

Thank you to those who gave all.

For these things and so much more, I thank every veteran for their service. I am grateful for all of our veterans today and every day, and I hope that we can all show our appreciation for them in both words and actions. May we be at their service now, and may we never allow their service to be in vain.

Just one thing each day. . .
