Let It Snow

Yesterday, I enjoyed a lunchtime walk amidst sunshine, temperatures in the low 60s, and a canvas of brightly covered leaves. Since fall is my favorite season, it was a blissful midday break, for which I was truly grateful. As the day progressed, the fall weather and scenery regressed, though.

I woke up to a landscape that was transformed overnight by a light covering of fresh snow, punctuated by light bouncing off icicles. I felt as if I had slept through the rest of the fall season and woken up in the middle of winter.

As I surveyed the view from my window, I felt the same feelings that I have felt with each previous snowfall. Excitement. Awe. Wonder. Joy. Gratitude. For as much as I enjoy fall and all of its splendor, I still embrace the gift of snow that winter offers and am finding much to be thankful for today for this unseasonal winter preview.

Having an energy efficient furnace and hot water heater to take the chill out of the air and to make showering a comfortable experience.

Savoring hot tea and oatmeal to begin my day on a warm note.

Working from the comforts of home in a super comfy and warm sweatshirt, sweatpants, and slippers.

Enjoying the serene and beautiful transformation of our yard and neighborhood.

Ending the day curled up in front of a fire with John.

These are such simple pleasures, but they left me feeling immensely thankful. Let it snow!

Just one thing each day. . .
