Five days a week, I wake up before the sun does, partly by choice and partly out of necessity. I could catch a little more shuteye, but I prefer to workout before I get my daughter up for school and get myself ready for work. So, sleep is a luxury, and it is what I am thankful for today.
I woke up without the aid of an alarm clock on this Saturday morning, with nowhere that I had to be and nothing that I had to do. Don’t get me wrong. There is always something that needs to be done, but not today, devil, not today.
Instead of scurrying out of bed and starting to check off things on my To Do list, I lingered in my bed, wrapped up in my warm blankets and in the company of our two cats and a good book. I felt completely cozy, peaceful, and content, and I remained there for the better part of the morning.
At times, I felt twinges of guilt for indulging in a leisurely start to the day, but those feelings quickly subsided when I allowed myself to be present in the moment and to be grateful for it. It began this day on such a great note and was time well spent, and that’s definitely something to be thankful for today.
Just one thing each day. . .
