Over the years, more and more people are celebrating Friendsgiving. Sometimes, this gathering of friends is in addition to a Thanksgiving celebration with family, and other times, it is in lieu of it. Either way, the season of giving thanks for, and with, our friends is here.
Tonight, I am gathering with some of my friends, but not under the auspices of Friendsgiving. While we will not be gathering for a traditional Thanksgiving feast, we will be carrying on our own traditions, so to speak. These traditions are ones that I am grateful for, even before we sit down together this evening, and they are present in other relationships, as well.
I am grateful that no matter how much time passes in between gatherings, we pick up right where we left off every time.
I am grateful that no matter what we may be celebrating or struggling with individually, that our joy is magnified and our pain is lessened when we share it with each other.
I am grateful for the unconditional love and acceptance we give and receive. No judgement. No competition.
I am grateful for being able to laugh until my face and stomach hurt.
I am grateful for all of my friends, because they are gifts who keep on giving all year round in every season.
Happy Friendsgiving, you all!
